auto download of maps/skins
were always a problem by the q3 ingame engine, not stable, realy slow, and with reduced downstream …. use a game slot … wth …. wtf 😉
best practice is to download the whole sh … manual and connect to your desired server 🙂
i am thinking about packing all neede files for terra to an archive, and up it to a location with a fast backend connection !

terra was set up and designed by doc, to give the mappers a opportunity to show their work to us ! i got request from users to add some custom maps in BB cycle, just to refresh

Since not everybody has played as it was a real official deathmatch, it’s results must be revoked. We must arrange the taem deathmatch officially, on the site. So everyone will be ready and prepared… This Thursday is OK with everyone? One more thing: we must decide on keeping score… saving screens with results is a good idea I think, we’ll publish them here after the match.
It seems that our tonight meeting in Terra Nova was an official team deathmatch. Sorry, I didn’t understand that it was, so I didn’t register the score.
I can only testify that me and Zapata played bad. Jesse and Mope played well, particularly Mope in Tijuana. 🙂
A proposal: why don’t we meet together to explore these new maps and talk freely, without a real tournament?
Yehaaa Terra Nova runs!!! Very nice maps but it is a pity that there are no other people only 2 silly bots 🙂

I wrote to Doc about your problem with Terra Nova, and, thanks to Mope’s screenshot, I was able to explain the problem.
His answer:
“This has been fixed by Brain in the meantime: ftp://ftp.loop8.net/smokinguns/smokinguns/“.
So it seems that the problem has been corrected.
But you can download each packet separately following the link above (open it in browser), so to be sure you don’t have to download them in game.
Put them in the right directory, the same of q3config.cfg:

These .pk3 files are like .zip files. Don’t unzip them!
I’d like more Terra Nova, because it’s almost always desert and because of good ping.
Lannukka has nothing special, apart from being not too much frequented. The ping is bad though.

Lanukka is not so good choice for me either, it’s too far away from me, so the ping is disaster. Not like on american servers, but still. But if there is no way for other clan members to download those maps, I agree to play there.
Same error here as JJ said and Mope posted.
If this is a regular problem and we keep on missing each other for this reason I suggest another server.
Is Lannukka a regular server, normaly online? Is it a special server for some reason?
What about this, on thursdays and regular days we meet up in Baller Bude. If we are all, or enough of us, online to play a decent game, we should switch then to Lannukka?
That was also the error for me yesterday. 🙂
If Lannukka is easier to connect it is good for me to play each thursday on that map.

As I told before, I’ve experienced those problems as well, but only with maps that were not previously downloaded… Attaching screenshot here. Do you think I need to go to the Doctor? His medicine is always lethal for me )).

Jesse, I wrote in blog that if you weren’t able connect to Terra Nova, we could have played in Lannukka. Did you read it? Damn… read the f..king blog!

Ok, if you can’t connect:
– be sure you transcribe the error message in its entirety and report it to me
– try re-downloading the whole server list
– try to write “\reconnect” in console (without “)
If nothing works: write an email to TheDoctor.
